The Enemy is a groundbreaking virtual reality experience I directed that redefined the boundaries of immersive journalism. Premiering in 2017, it was the world’s first multi-user, location-based VR experience, allowing visitors to engage with combatants from opposing sides of real-world conflicts—face to face, in the same virtual space. Produced by Chloé Jarry of Camera Lucida, in collaboration with France Télévisions, the National Film Board of Canada, and Emissive, The Enemy combined cutting-edge technology with intimate storytelling to invite audiences into the complexity of war and challenge their perceptions of the “other.” The experience toured globally, reaching thousands and sparking conversations about empathy, truth, and the human cost of conflict.
